The article addresses Remo Bodei's interpretation (in Dominio e sottomissione 2020) of Aristotle's arguments about natural slavery. In particular, I concentrate on the relationship between slavery, chance, and necessity (in light of Bernard Williams's discussion of slavery in Shame and Necessity), and on the role assigned by Aristotle to women and slaves in the hierarchical theory of the Politics.
