The aim of the work, divided into a theoretical section and an empirical section, is to examine the degree of active management of mutual funds through the empirical investigation of a sample of mutual funds listed in the "Italian Stocks" category as classified by Assogestioni. The theoretical part considers the question of active and passive mutual fund management and at the same time focuses attention on tracking error volatility (TEV) for measuring the volatility of variations between a given fund's returns and its benchmark. The empirical section examines a sample of "Italian Stocks" through the application of TEV to draw conclusions about the level of active management of the mutual finds.

Abstract
The aim of the work, divided into a theoretical section and an empirical section, is to examine the degree of active management of mutual funds through the empirical investigation of a sample of mutual funds listed in the "Italian Stocks" category as classified by Assogestioni. The theoretical part considers the question of active and passive mutual fund management and at the same time focuses attention on tracking error volatility (TEV) for measuring the volatility of variations between a given fund's returns and its benchmark. The empirical section examines a sample of "Italian Stocks" through the application of TEV to draw conclusions about the level of active management of the mutual finds.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
