The E Mediterranean species Gagea peduncularis (J. & C. Presl) Pascher (Liliaceae) is recorded for the first time for Italy (Apulia) in several localities, which mark the westernmost limit of its geographical range. Morphological and karyological (2n = 36) characteristics of this plant, as compared with those of other Italian representatives of sect. Didymobulbos, are presented and discussed.
