In this project we address the following key questions: 1) What is the nature of the semantic representation associated with words? 2) Is referential semantics separable from other semantic properties related to morphosyntactic processing? 3) Is there a component of word meaning that is neurally distinguishable from denoting and depicting meaning of words? Here we show how cognitive neuropsychological studies can make specific contribution to answering these questions. Specifically, in the present report, we present a case of a patient with Semantic Dementia and discuss data from a test session including a series of specific morphosyntactic tasks.
