What is the critical difference between verbs and nouns that drives verb-selective regions and, in particular, the left posterior middle temporal gyrus (MTG)? In the present study, we test the hypothesis that it is the difference in dynamicity between previously-used verbs (e.g. “to walk” or “to think”) and nouns (e.g. “the table” or “the idea”) that drives previously-identified verb-selective regions.

Abstract

What is the critical difference between verbs and nouns that drives verb-selective regions and, in particular, the left posterior middle temporal gyrus (MTG)? In the present study, we test the hypothesis that it is the difference in dynamicity between previously-used verbs (e.g. “to walk” or “to think”) and nouns (e.g. “the table” or “the idea”) that drives previously-identified verb-selective regions.
