This article presents an unpublished letter of the Cardinal Guiseppe Gaspare Mezzofanti, professor of Semitic languages at the University of Bologna, to Ippolito Rosellini, who studied in Bologna for a three-year period, before obtaining his position at the Univerity of Pisa. In the letter, dated 15 January 1825, Cardinal Mezzofanti congratulates Rosellini on the beginning of his academic career.
