Using GIS for monitoring conservation procedures is one of the new uses of the system, which enables accurate tracking, and efficiency of the process. This new use is valuable for the mural wall paintings because it allows for storing information for each pixel about the archaeometric analysis, ancient surface preparation, pigments, and intervention as well as completion stages of intervention based on the analytic procedures. Using a web-enabled form of GIS is more useful in this situation because it allows better sharing of information among the experts who are not necessarily situated at the same place. For the purposes of this study, SICAR which is a web-enabled GIS developed by Liberologica is being successfully tested on different sites and monuments will be used. It allows for embedding 3D scans of the walls for more accurate georeferencing of the data. The system also allows for multiple layering of the data with tabular results, which can be used for inferential statistics for the best risk assessment procedures for the process of the conservation.
