This paper describes a simulation program designed for the performance evaluation of multiprocessor systems. The simulator is based on a synthetic trace generator, which produces a sequence of memory addresses obtained from a stochastic model of program execution. These addresses are considered as the trace of a concurrent program running on the multiprocessor system being evaluated. The trace generator is configured for specific program and microprocessor by means of input parameters describing the structure and characteristics of the program, the operating system kernel and the processor instruction set.

Abstract
This paper describes a simulation program designed for the performance evaluation of multiprocessor systems. The simulator is based on a synthetic trace generator, which produces a sequence of memory addresses obtained from a stochastic model of program execution. These addresses are considered as the trace of a concurrent program running on the multiprocessor system being evaluated. The trace generator is configured for specific program and microprocessor by means of input parameters describing the structure and characteristics of the program, the operating system kernel and the processor instruction set.File in questo prodotto:
