This article investigates those types of wordplay which take advantage of the form and/or meaning of lexico-phraseological units. The first part of the article is devoted to Italian wordplay, and the examples provided all come from a corpus of modern Italian. Following this, examples are given of English phraseological wordplay, as well as indications of ways in which the topic might be investigated further.

Abstract
