Abstract

A set of experiments was undertaken in order to elucidate the response of a wide range of cultivars of major cereals and grasses to long-term exposures with realistic, asymptomatic, SO2 levels in fumigations chambers. This study contributes to a preliminary assessment of the impact of SO2 on Italian crop species. However, the large intraspecific variability observed mitigates against the derivation of any general conclusions.
