The Business Plan can be considered a knowledge driver for internal analysis but also for market actors. With regard to inside cognitive role, it lets the enterprise achieve important information about profitability, basilar for the financial and market risk management, but it allows to deepen and to underline problem list that invest the enterprise up to 360°. It is necessary to specify that the business plan represents a fundamental knowledge tool for the stakeholders. There are a lot of people interested in the “information panel” that the business plan is able to get across: the private equity investors, the various financiers. It represents for the entrepreneur a communication tool: with business plan he has the possibility to make clear and legible ideas. The business plan explains its practical as a knowledge driver in every stage of the lifecycle of the company. In start-up it’s of primary importance to access the financial market but it’s also important as the entrepreneur’s appraisal for the evaluation of a new initiative, for the development of a new product, for strategic decisions. To highlight the different cognitive elements of the business plan in various configurations a survey was conducted among actors and writers which addressed the business plan. After having analyzed the informational contribution of the business plan in the various configurations this paper’s second part objective is the analysis of the “knowledge drivers” that the different typologies of actors want to find in the business plan to be able to appraise the business.
