The first results of a systematic research on the conodont fauna in the carbonate layers of the Tuscan Crystalline have provided further information on the stratigraphy of the "basement" in the Apuan Alps and Sienese Maremma. Samples from Mt. Corchia (Apuan Alps) indicate the Upper Ludlow. The conodont fauna from the Risanguigno River in the Monticiano zone indicates the Lower Devonian. This is the first evidence of the Devonian in Tuscany and the first datation of layers attributed to the Boccheggiano formation.

Abstract
The first results of a systematic research on the conodont fauna in the carbonate layers of the Tuscan Crystalline have provided further information on the stratigraphy of the "basement" in the Apuan Alps and Sienese Maremma. Samples from Mt. Corchia (Apuan Alps) indicate the Upper Ludlow. The conodont fauna from the Risanguigno River in the Monticiano zone indicates the Lower Devonian. This is the first evidence of the Devonian in Tuscany and the first datation of layers attributed to the Boccheggiano formation.File in questo prodotto:
