Abstract

In the present paper, we show that Sanskrit -siṣ-aorist originates from the reanalysis of the allomorphs of two archetypes, hā-/hās- and śam-/śaṁs-, and that its lexical diffusion relies on a connectionist process. Here we also provide a first hint of a potential interaction between historical linguistics and cognitive neuroscience.
