Abstract. In this paper we present some results of Kronecker on divisor theory using the modem terminology of ideals. This approach, although restrictive in several respects, makes some of the fundamental ideas of Kronecker's theory much more apparent and allows to improve upon many classical results. We also include a survey of some results we obtained in [10] using Kronecker's method of indeterminate coefficients.
