Cam-follower pairs are difficult to simulate both numerically and experimentally because of their continuously variable conditions of load, speed and geometry. A new test rig has been designed and realized for investigations on contact force and lubricant film thickness and shape in cam-follower contacts. In this work, some preliminary experimental results obtained with the apparatus are presented.
