Two trials were carried out to investigate some aspects odf reproduction in Muscovy ducks. In the first trial we studied the trend and the duration of semen fertilizing ability in females after the last artificial insemination (two a.i. in consecutive days and a 3rd, 48h after the 2nd a.i.). In the second trial we studied the trend of semen fertilizing ability during 122 days of a reproductive season and the correlations between semen fertilizing ability and some qualitative parameters of semen (volume, pH, temperature, pcv, spermatozoa motility, colour and appearance). Scoring system were used to evaluate the last three parameters. The trend of egg-fertility in relationship to the time spent from the last a.i. was summarized by an equation. The duration of fertility resulted in a maximum of 15 days. The trend of semen fertilizing ability in relationship to the number of days of egg-laying was fitted by an equation. Semen fertilizing ability was correlated negatively vs volume, pH, temperature and positively vs pcv and motility. No difference of egg fertility was observed in relationship to the semen colour score but significant differences were observed in relationship to the semen appearance score.
