Grounded Interactionism: un lessico comune per l’Interazionismo Simbolico e la Grounded Theory

The purpose of this essay is to explore the intertwining between the Constructionist Grounded Theory, and the methodological guidelines of Symbolic Interactionism. Over the last few years several articles have appeared that highlight the connection between these two perspectives; these essays underestimate the contribution of Blumer and other authors in building a methodological link between the interactionist methods of empirical analysis and the research practices that are typical of Grounded Theory. In this article the connection between the two perspectives will be explored in the light of the methodological position of Symbolic Interactionism as presented by Blumer and further developed by Kathy Charmaz. This exploration will take place essentially in three stages: in the first some aspects of methodological position of symbolic interactionism will be presented; in the second the essential features of the Constructionist Grounded Theory will be described, and finally, in the third some conceptual and methodological expressions and practices will be rapidly discussed to effectively verify the methodological convergence between the two perspectives.
