A radio frequency sensor for estimating the fluid level inside a water container or a pipe is presented. The sensor is based on spiral resonators which exhibit a sharp resonant behavior in sub-GHz range where the imaginary component of the water permittivity is limited. The change of the water thickness leads to a change of the effective permittivity sensed by the resonators that, in turns, leads to a tangible frequency shift of the resonant peak.

Abstract
A radio frequency sensor for estimating the fluid level inside a water container or a pipe is presented. The sensor is based on spiral resonators which exhibit a sharp resonant behavior in sub-GHz range where the imaginary component of the water permittivity is limited. The change of the water thickness leads to a change of the effective permittivity sensed by the resonators that, in turns, leads to a tangible frequency shift of the resonant peak.File in questo prodotto:
