Abstract

Through some of the most important novels of Montalbano’s series, it is possible to show how the representation of myths, objects, characters from Africa and Middle-East, allows Camilleri to overcome the postmodernist literary games and the typical flatness of popular literature. Thanks to the opposite side of Mediterranean Sea, Camilleri deepens his main character’s psychological complexity and tells some of the most painful episodes of contemporary History.
