In this paper, we present two novel antennas for microwave imaging applications with compact size, i.e., 70mm x 10mm x 15mm and 66mm x 9mm x 15mm, respectively. Despite their reduced dimensions, they retain a substantially large frequency band (1.28-2.34 GHz) considering a -10 dB reflection coefficient as reference, which can be usefully applied for microwave brain imaging. The combination of compactness together with large operative bandwidth make them excellent candidates for portable head imaging systems.

Abstract

In this paper, we present two novel antennas for microwave imaging applications with compact size, i.e., 70mm x 10mm x 15mm and 66mm x 9mm x 15mm, respectively. Despite their reduced dimensions, they retain a substantially large frequency band (1.28-2.34 GHz) considering a -10 dB reflection coefficient as reference, which can be usefully applied for microwave brain imaging. The combination of compactness together with large operative bandwidth make them excellent candidates for portable head imaging systems.
