Abstract

The quality of listening in schools strongly affect the learning process of pupils. Different techniques have been developed to evaluate it in indoor environments, and among the reverberation time is the most frequently used factor. In the early design stage, the reverberation time can be evaluated by analytical correlations or software simulations. In this paper, the reverberation times obtained using analytical formulae and software simulations have been analysed and compared with those obtained by a measurement campaign, in order to evaluate the accuracy of these design tools. The analysis has been carried out in the classrooms of the School of Engineering of the University of Pisa.
