This paper provides a methodology to estimate the radiation characteristics of a wearable antenna array by using the scattering matrix of the whole system, comprising both the radiating elements as well as the testing ones. The array feeding scheme is optimized for minimal signal within the body and quasi-omnidirectional radiations outside, and the multi-objective Pareto front is adopted for pursuing these two conflicting objectives. Such a methodology can be adopted for the design of antennas for body-centric communications without involving high computational costs.

Abstract

This paper provides a methodology to estimate the radiation characteristics of a wearable antenna array by using the scattering matrix of the whole system, comprising both the radiating elements as well as the testing ones. The array feeding scheme is optimized for minimal signal within the body and quasi-omnidirectional radiations outside, and the multi-objective Pareto front is adopted for pursuing these two conflicting objectives. Such a methodology can be adopted for the design of antennas for body-centric communications without involving high computational costs.
