This book aims to present and discuss some of the problems that are increasingly emerging today in our relationship with food as well as in our style of eating and drinking. These problems are related to a number of behaviours most of us adopt and that the book wants to show are wrong: e.g. not just the attitudes that led to the slow food movement around the world, but the ‘fast food’ style of eating and drinking too; not only a bulimic attitude to things (in general, not just as a disorder), i.e. trying to ingest and absorb things, but also a longing for purity and non-contamination that leads some people to refuse certain foods and drinks or even to refuse to eat at all; not only the position of omnivores, who are allowed to eat anything, but also the belief of vegetarians and vegans that certain living beings (but not all) must not be eaten for ethical reasons. This book intends to show that these problematic behaviours are due to a wrong understanding of the eating experience.
