It is commonly believed that white dwarfs (WDs) with a carbon-oxygen core must have mass larger than about 0.5Msolar. We will discuss a possible scenario for the formation of C/O WDs with mass as low as 0.33Msolar. A description of both the pre-WD and the cooling evolution of such models of very low mass will be presented.

Abstract
It is commonly believed that white dwarfs (WDs) with a carbon-oxygen core must have mass larger than about 0.5Msolar. We will discuss a possible scenario for the formation of C/O WDs with mass as low as 0.33Msolar. A description of both the pre-WD and the cooling evolution of such models of very low mass will be presented.File in questo prodotto:
