The paper presents the preliminary results of the study of two ceramic contexts from the excavation of San Sisto’s Garden in Pisa. The pottery comes from the filling of two parallel trenches for planting vines: it contained a large amount of post-medieval ceramic material, rubble, animal bones, malacofauna and glass. The study of the finds allowed us to hypothesize that the fills were created by drawing on a dump, probably inside the garden and in use between the end of 16th and the middle of the 17th century. The provenance from the rectory is suggested by the presence of both ceramic artifacts and ‘ecclesiastical’ material. The pottery belongs to different classes with a clear prevalence of local productions, which demonstrates the great productivity of the Pisan kilns in the early 17th century.

Abstract
The pottery belongs to different classes with a clear prevalence of local productions, which demonstrates the great productivity of the Pisan kilns in the early 17th century.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
