The need of Best Practice Guidelines and their systematic use in Computational Fluid Dynamics problems for Nuclear Reactor Safety is being recognized by a growing community during the last few years. Particular care must be taken in problem definition, grid development and set-up of calculations in order to obtain good quality results. Error analysis and estimation are key steps in evaluating the accuracy and the efficiency of the solution. On the other hand available time and computer resources restrict the rigor in estimation of discretization error. This paper presents a rigorous application of Best Practice Guidelines to a simple pressure drop problem found in literature in order to assess the capabilities and limitations of such a method.

Abstract
The need of Best Practice Guidelines and their systematic use in Computational Fluid Dynamics problems for Nuclear Reactor Safety is being recognized by a growing community during the last few years. Particular care must be taken in problem definition, grid development and set-up of calculations in order to obtain good quality results. Error analysis and estimation are key steps in evaluating the accuracy and the efficiency of the solution. On the other hand available time and computer resources restrict the rigor in estimation of discretization error. This paper presents a rigorous application of Best Practice Guidelines to a simple pressure drop problem found in literature in order to assess the capabilities and limitations of such a method.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
