Modern receivers and communication systems have to handle the data-rate increase caused by the innovation of new generation on-board satellite sensors. Recently, standards like CCSDS 131.2-B were released to front the new performance needs. In this scope, equalizers within receivers have become necessary for the recovery of linear impairments introduced in transmitted data during communication. This paper presents the design and the implementation of a very high-speed adaptive linear channel equalizer developed on FPGA platform, to be employed in ground receiving systems. At first, an introduction to channel equalization systems is given, with an overview of CCSDS 131.2-B standard, and of the specific employed adaptive algorithm. After that, the proposed architecture is described, focusing on the adopted techniques to cope with very high data rates and functional performances. Finally, the results of the implemented system are resumed.
