L’ascia neolitica di Barbazzano (SP ). Considerazioni sulla cronologia e materia prima

The neolithic greenstone axe-head of Barbazzano (SP). Considerations on chronology and raw material - The unpublished discovery of one polished greenstone axe-head found near the site of Barbazzano, in the municipality of Lerici (SP) offers the authors an opportunity to present some aspects relating to the meaning of this object in the context of the very scarce knowledge of the Neolithic of eastern Liguria. The raw material analyses and the typological characteristics suggest its attribution to the Neolithic period. The location of the find at a strategically place overlooking the sea poses some questions about the significance of this find in the context of the population of the territory of eastern Liguria during the Neolithic.
