Love and the Disorder of the World: Sonnets and Other Poems offers to Italian readers a representative selection of the poetry of Luís de Camões, the architect of the modern Portuguese language and one of the leading voices of European Renaissance and Mannerist poetry. The volume presents a multifaceted Camões: heir to the tradition of medieval cancioneiros, interpreter of Petrarch’s dolce stil novo, a scholar of humanism, but also a precursor — with his bitter reflections on the human condition — of that modern unease which anticipates debates on identity, emotion and the meaning of the world. Selected, edited and translated by Valeria Tocco, with an essay by Vítor Aguiar e Silva, also selected and translated by Valeria Tocco, the anthology is accompanied by a critical introduction by the author and by illustrations by Marta Nunes, which establish a distinctive poetic dialogue between text and image, a sign of the renewed aesthetic sensibility in the contemporary reception of the great poet.

Abstract
Selected, edited and translated by Valeria Tocco, with an essay by Vítor Aguiar e Silva, also selected and translated by Valeria Tocco, the anthology is accompanied by a critical introduction by the author and by illustrations by Marta Nunes, which establish a distinctive poetic dialogue between text and image, a sign of the renewed aesthetic sensibility in the contemporary reception of the great poet.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
