The recovery of the osteological collection of the Natural History Museum of the University of Pisa The Natural History Museum of the University of Pisa houses a historical osteological collection of over 2000 specimens, including several hundred of mounted skeletons. The collection recovery project, started at the end of 2021, aimed primarily at securing the specimens, cleaning the surfaces from impurities, restoring structures deteriorated over time and revising classification. Subsequently the collection has been set up to a new storage, reorganized according to systematic criterions. For the moment, over 1450 specimens have been recovered, including the entire ornithological and ichthyological collection. To enhance the collections and promote their accessibility outside the Museum, the specimens are being digitized through the creation of 3D models uploaded to the museum’s digital archive on the Sketchfab platform.

Abstract
To enhance the collections and promote their accessibility outside the Museum, the specimens are being digitized through the creation of 3D models uploaded to the museum’s digital archive on the Sketchfab platform.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
