The volume is the catalogue of an exhibition (28/04/2010 to 25/07/2010, Pisa, Palazzo Blu), organized by M. Betrò (see under the tipology of publications “Altro”). The catalogue, includings essays by M. Betrò, C. Guidotti, A. Pesante, F. Silvano, P.E. Tomei-L. Amadei, illustrates the 206 pieces displayed (descriptions by L. Amadei, M. Betrò, P. Del Vesco, C. Guidotti, F. Facchetti, G. Miniaci, D. Salvoldi, F. Silvano): manuscripts , watercolors, pencil drawings, Egyptian antiquities and botanical specimens. The selection of objects in the exhibition was intended to restore an image as possible as complete of the significance played by the Franco-Tuscan Expedition to Egypt, led by JF Champollion and Ippolito Rosellini in 1828-29, and its various activities. Many of the manuscripts and drawings on display were unpublished and some of them discovered during the “Rosellini Project", a two-year research programme, directed by M. Betrò and funded by the Foundation Cassa di Risaprmio of Pisa, for digitizing and publishing on the web the material stored in Pisa, in the Rosellini Fund of the University Library. Particular attention was given, both in the exposition and its catalog, to the reconstitution of the work made in Egypt by Rosellini and the expedition, highlighting the existing links between the manuscripts, drawings, the Journal of Travel Rosellini, on the one hand, and the objects to which they refer, now in Florence, on the other.
