The main aims of the present work, which has been written for students at a language faculty, can be summarized as follows: 1) to make the student of English aware of the importance of lexical phrases in modern English; 2) to show the variety of phraseological phenomena which contribute to the ‘lexicon’ of English; 3) to introduce the notion of ‘language corpora’; 4) to give examples of how phraseological phenomena are presented in dictionaries.
