Some key themes are recurrent Boschi’s work, such as the complexity of space or the careful balance struck between design and materials, both old and new. Clearly perceptible in his most recent projects is the architect’s confident “re-writing” and his ability to incorporate into the existing stratifications the meditated lessons of the old and new masters. The introductory articles by Marco Mulazzani and Beppe Finessi provide a guide to the understanding of the architect's vocabulary in his projects.

Abstract

The projects, are organized into three chapters: works of mercy (internal), works of charity (architectural), works of virtue (urban). In this way Boschi reinterprets his achievement by contextualizing his works with cultural references that extend their strictly professional horizons. The thirteen projects built in twenty years’ work are presented, finally, as a continuous work of re-writing, guided by a thoughtful interpretation of structures, spaces and places through the exploration of the reality of the buildings. By accumulating traces, signs and superimpositions, Boschi recovers the stratigraphy of the buildings. The book presents each project in an essay that provides a key to its interpretation through narrative, quotations and comparisons with similar architectures. In this way literary, pictorial and cinematic evocations permit an assimilation between walls textures and narrative sources, between stone text and literary text.
