An examination of the religious life among the minor peoples of the central Italy from the IV century B.C. to the Social War, as documented by inscriptions, buildings, and figurative arts,demostrates that, in spite of the increasing political and cultural Romanization, the local religious traditions persisted for a long time and were directly influenced by the Greek and Etruscan world rather than by Rome.
