In the present study we address the function and the distribution of verbal prefixation in Greek and Latin and show that: 1) the same principle operates in both languages; 2) this principle is related to the relationship between actional properties and transitivity: specifically, telicity and valency; 3) verbal prefixation in Greek and Latin may function as a strategy to encode alternations such as transitive/intransitive, causative/applicative.

Abstract
In the present study we address the function and the distribution of verbal prefixation in Greek and Latin and show that: 1) the same principle operates in both languages; 2) this principle is related to the relationship between actional properties and transitivity: specifically, telicity and valency; 3) verbal prefixation in Greek and Latin may function as a strategy to encode alternations such as transitive/intransitive, causative/applicative.File in questo prodotto:
