Open spaces are an integral part of the city so that elements of buildings can seem meaningless or extraordinary in function of the interest and importance aroused by their absence. City can be read in positive or in negative: a fabric of buildings divided by streets and sqares, or a series of public spaces, streets, squares, gardens, parks, among which buildings rises like “ volumetric énclaves”. The design of these voids has become one of the themes of modern architectural culture together with city “embellissement” question. The ground project, however,how needs organization, meeting geography and history if a district takes on a certain configuration thrugh tips, coverings, rises, curbs, joinings, digs, must not be mistaken with street forniture.
