RÉSUMÉ. Cette mémoire presente une etude concernent une famille d’arches circulaires en maçonnerie, ayant tout la meme ouverture e le meme poids, mais rayons , et donc ouvertures angulaires, differentes. Dans le but de estimer le charge de ruine, chaque arche a eté considerée comme une membrure monodimensionelle composée par un material elastic non lineaire. Les resultés preliminaires montre que la charge de ruine est fortement influencée par le rayon, ainsi que la forme optimale est presque indipendent de la condition de chargement. ABSTRACT. The present paper considers a family of circular masonry arches, all of the same span and weight, but with different embraces. Approximate values of the collapse loads are determined by modeling the structures as one-dimensional non-linear elastic elements. Some first numerical results show that the collapse load varies widely as a function of embrace and suggest that the optimal embrace is relatively independent of the loading conditions.
