This paper investigates the effects of the application of new Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on product innovation in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Following a growing field of literature, the hypothesis is that most of the potential benefits from these emerging technologies come from their support to the process of knowledge creation and the management of it. Research questions derive from an analysis of the existing literature and tested through evidence from an undergoing field study on 41 SMEs located in North and Central Italy. The overall objective of this paper is to give a contribution to the research concerning the adoption and implementation of ICT tools in the Product Innovation (PI) process in Small and Medium Enterprises.
