The TETRA 2 High Speed Data (HSD) standard has been developed within the Technical Committee TETRA of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute as a ma- jor upgrade to the existing narrow-band ETSI TETRA system to supply professional users with high-speed IP packet data serv- ices over wireless mobile channels. The aim of the paper is to give a comprehensive overview of the HSD standard devoting particular emphasis to the physical layer key features. Represen- tative link performance results are given for typical wireless propagation scenarios.
