We present a lattice investigation of the order of the chiral transition of Nf = 2 QCD. The specific heat and the susceptibility of the chiral condensate are determined for different spatial sizes of the system. A finite size scaling analysis excludes a second order transition in the predicted universality class and hints at a possible first order phase transition. The same indication comes from the analysis of the system by an order parameter related to the condensation of magnetic charges.
