The kinetics of coherent phase-transition fronts in thermoelastic conductors is cinsidered on the material manifold. The computation of the power expanded by the driving force acting on the front leads to an expression of the heat source localized at it. An approach using irreversible thermodynamics then yields sensical kinetic laws.
