In the last twenty years an increasing interest toward ROS (reactive oxygen spe- cies) and RNS (reactive nitrogen species) has been documented in order to investigate their di- rect or indirect involvement in several mechanisms regarding oncogenesis. The veterinary litera- ture includes a reduced number of papers written to evaluate the oxidative status on canine pa- tients affected by neoplasia. In detail, there are only two papers dealing with the evaluation of the oxidative status in dogs affected by malignant lymphoma. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the possible occurrence of oxidative stress in four patients, for a total of 48 collected samples, affected by malignant lymphoma in comparison to a control group. The match of dis- eased and control animals was done to evaluate possible differences based on the remission status, disease stage, and the occurrence of leukopenia and poikilocytosis. The obtained results evidence in plasma a great increase of oxygen free radicals and a decrease of the global anti- oxydant capacity. These results were not influenced from the following factors such as remis- sion, leukopenia, and poikilocytosis. It should be noticed that in one patient, was occurring at the same time an inflammatory disease of the skin.
