SYMPOSIUM ON ECONOMICS, ANTI-SEMITISM AND THE JEWISH QUESTION

Beyond the specific contribution of each of the four historiographical essays, we believe that the greatest result of this mini-symposium is the whole, as it forms one of the first attempts to use anti-Semitism and the Jewish question as perspectives for investigation in the history of economic thought. Of course this is still a limited cross-section, however, it is able to show the complexity and multi-faceted nature of the problem. If it is true that Jewish history can be considered ‘a seismograph of the shocks that have hit and transformed the modern world’ (Traverso, 2014, p. 28), it seems difficult to imagine that the history of political economy has not recorded these tremors.
