Manuale di scrittura argomentativa

This, the first Italian textbook for the teaching of argumentative scholarly writing in the humanities and social sciences, starts from a comprehensive and original systematization of the theory of argumentation. Its foundations are in Chaïm Perleman’s and Lucie Olbrechts-Tytecha’s Traité de l’argumentation (1958) and in constructivism. All the key concepts of the theory are explained and applied in several dozen exercises aimed at the acquisition of argumentative competence. The second half of the book presents a theory of the process of writing argumentative texts in the humanities and social sciences: its focus is on the use of sources to generate new and meaningful research questions within the framework of a given disciplinary community and methodological orientation, on the research process which leads from a question to a thesis, and on the successive steps of the writing process through which an argumentation reaches its final shape.
