Abstract

Railway infrastructures represent of one the most important European transport network, transferring passengers and goods with normal and high speed services. Economical losses caused by unexpected interruption of service are considered unacceptable and to avoid this possibility, designers must achieve a suitable level of reliability and safety both for structures and vehicles. Scope of the Details research project was the improvement of design, safety and durability of steel-concrete composite solutions in high speed railway bridges. Main objective of performed theoretical and practical analysis was a better understanding of structural global behavior of typical European bridges, with particular attention to dynamic behavior, resonance phenomena, traffic loads, fatigue stress spectra and resistance of local details.
