The rationale behind this volume stems from a discussion between scholars from various disciplines, and the volume attempts to respond to a multi-sited request, therefore disclosing an unmistakable interdisciplinary soul. This is something rare in current hegemonic academic discourse, above all on topics like ‘religiously divided societies’ or questions such as how diverse contributions can converge toward a shared understanding of conflicts, particularly within a context marked by dramatic events in so many conflictual loci. There is thus a need to respond to the growing sense of uncertainty in the critical relationship between religion and conflict in contemporary societies.
