Abstract

The book deals with the translation of "De Architectura" of Vitruvius, in which Caesar Ceariano worked well beyond the date of publication (1521), a work that can be considered one of the most interesting for the sixteenth-century art history. The research, carried out at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa in collaboration with the Accademia della Crusca, involves the computerization anthology of the translation and commentary of the Cesariano. Texts were subjected to lexical analysis, which reveals the presence of Latinisms but also of dialectisms, and terms derived from the common lexicon.
