Machiavelli” of Lucca (Tuscany, Italy) stil retains the original structure dating back to 1857 and holds rich collections of minerals, fossils and zoological specimens. Cetaceans are represented by a complete skeleton of Tursiops truncatus (Odontoceti, Delphinidae) mounted and exposed to the public, and two lumbar vertebrae in anatomical connection of a large mysticete. The date and the place of origin of these specimens are unknown.

Abstract

The “Gabinetto di Storia Naturale“ in the secondary school “Liceo Classico N. Machiavelli” of Lucca (Tuscany, Italy) stil retains the original structure dating back to 1857 and holds rich collections of minerals, fossils and zoological specimens.
