In the last part of second world war, the German army destroyed many towers because of their possible use as point of sight. During the years following the Great War the Italian government dedicated some fund to bell tower rebuilding, but the discovery of an ancient church near the bell tower stopped the reconstruction. During last decade a great effort to re-propose the rebuilding of the bell tower not only as a simple reconstruction of a medieval bell tower, but also a sort of “restoration” of landscape. In the paper will be described the main aspect of reconstruction, starting from the necessity to rebuild the tower with same material and same techniques of medieval workers, up to the necessity to recover the original masonry of foundation.

Abstract
In the last part of second world war, the German army destroyed many towers because of their possible use as point of sight. During the years following the Great War the Italian government dedicated some fund to bell tower rebuilding, but the discovery of an ancient church near the bell tower stopped the reconstruction. During last decade a great effort to re-propose the rebuilding of the bell tower not only as a simple reconstruction of a medieval bell tower, but also a sort of “restoration” of landscape. In the paper will be described the main aspect of reconstruction, starting from the necessity to rebuild the tower with same material and same techniques of medieval workers, up to the necessity to recover the original masonry of foundation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
