Consequently the fibre waviness decreases the mechanical properties of the composites. The most widely used models for the estimation of the IFSS do not consider this phenomenon. This work introduces a method for IFSS calcula-tion taking into account the waviness factor which affects the weight distribution of the fibre length.

Abstract

During extrusion and injection moulding of composites, natural fibres suffer of entan-glement phenomena in the polymeric matrix.
